AGE DIVISIONS
PETITE 8 and under
JUNIOR 9-11 years
TEEN 12-14 years

*Ages as of January 1st. Groups will be averaged and decimals will round down.

SOLO - $75
DUO/TRIO - $45 /person

TIME LIMITS
SOLO - 3 min
DUO/TRIO - 3 min
SMALL GROUP - 3 min

*Extended times are permitted in all divisions. Fee - $5.00 per minute
SCHEDULE
The competition schedule will be emailed directly to the studio owners approximately 7-10 days prior to the competition. NO CHANGES will be made after this time for any reason.
MUSIC
Music must be submitted via studio account online one week before the event.
Studio owners should have backup copies of music files on a USB drive.
USB drives should be picked up at the conclusion of the competition.
Future Stars is not responsible for any music not claimed by the end of the competition.
STYLES
MUSICAL THEATER - Any style or combination of styles of dance with music from any Broadway show, past or present.
OPEN - Any style of dance
TAP - Routines containing tap technique. No tap sounds recorded on music.
LYRICAL - Routines demonstrating balance, extension and control performing contemporary/lyrical moves. The dance should tell the story of the music
CONTEMPORARY - Routines that contain both lyrical and modern movements
JAZZ - Routines that consist of primarily jazz technique and movements
HIP-HOP - Represents the current trendy style of today's dance.
PROPS

Props will be loaded in the back of the venue through a garage door. Space is limited. Please bring in and remove props daily. Props can not be loaded in for the entire weekend.

No painting of props inside or outside of the event venue.

Please set props in a timely manner.

No dancers may stand, lay or be ABOVE 6 feet from the stage at any time during the performance.

Any special requests for the assembling of props must be discussed with the Competition Director upon arrival to the venue.

When moving props, do not alter or damage the backdrop, wings or floor. If damaged, the studio owner is responsible for replacement.

No form of liquid, gel, powder, glass, aerosol cans of any type (including hairspray or spray paint) or similar substances may be used. Wet paint (on body, costume, or prop), fake blood, silly string, fog machines, dry ice, smoke, strobe lights, bubble machines, loose glitter, sand, or any other similar substances may not be used.
GENERAL

Contestants must be in the building and ready to perform 90 minutes prior to their estimated performance time. Due to certain circumstances the competition could be running ahead.

All teachers and contestants agree that the manner and method of judging will be solely the discretion of the judging panel. Any questions regarding the rules or judging should be brought to the attention of the director by the studio representative only.

All dancers and teachers are expected to display good sportsmanship. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification.

For the safety of your dancers, cameras, photos and recording of ANY kind are NOT allowed inside the auditorium. If anyone from your studio is caught videotaping or taking photos, your entry is subject to disqualification. This rule is in place to protect the choreography of the teachers and the privacy of the performers.

No coaching from anywhere, by anyone will be allowed during the performances. If this occurs during a routine, the dance will be scored lower by the judges.

Future Stars and the venue are not held responsible for personal injury or property loss/damage to contestants and spectators.

Future Stars reserves the right to refuse entry into the competition as a competitor or spectator, to any group or individual who has been deemed unsportsmanlike by our staff.

Unsportsmanlike behavior during the event is unacceptable and those individuals will immediately be asked to leave the venue and no refunds will be issued.

Future Stars does not offer refunds, however, if a dancer suffers an injury, the studio owner may request a refund.

The studio owner must email a copy of the doctor’s note to Future Stars PRIOR to the start of the event.
LEVELS
BEGINNER
This level is for BEGINNING dancers that take no more than 3 hours of dance class per week and have 3 or less year’s experience competing. This level is for the dancer who is starting their competition experience.
INTERMEDIATE
This level is for dancers who have been dancing 3 to 5 years and take 5 or less hours of dance class per week. This level is for dancers who are not beginners but not quite ready for the advanced level.
ADVANCED
This level is for dancers who have been dancing 6 or more years and take 6 or more hours of dance class a week. This level is for the dancer with considerable competition experience.
REGISTRATION
Complete registration with entry fees paid in full is due 30 days prior to the competition.
AWARDS
SCORING
All entries will be scored by a panel of three judges, with a maximum score of 100 points per judge.
Judge’s critiques are based on technique, execution, stage presence and entertainment.

Future Stars reserves the right to change, delete, or add to any rules, regulations, or policies at any time deemed necessary

Participation in any Future Stars event indicates permission to use any photographs or video taken during the event in promotional venues including, but not limited to, newspapers, brochures, ads, television, videos, newsletters, and the internet.
